[WTD] Yamaha GT-2000 Turntable.

p147

Sunny Sussex.
Long shot, but does anyone have a Yamaha GT-2000 turntable that they would like to move on, budget £2k+.
Thanks

There's a chap in Northern Ireland has been selling one for a while at £2.4k, looks in fine fettle with an external PSU, he has some other nice bits of kit, might be worth a cheeky offer if you can bear to consider a courier. https://www.gumtree.com/p/record-players-turntables/high-end-turntable-yamaha-gt-2000/1450045964
Thanks, seen that one, but after the problems with the last turntable I bought online, I will stick with collecting and this is a too far to travel.

Do consider registering yourself on Hi-Fi Do’s alert system as they have a steady flow of nice GT-2000s through their shops.

You will obviously have to pay for shipping from Japan plus import duties, but their packaging is second to none. Their boxes genuinely will shrug off pretty much anything short of direct missile attack! The Sony PS-X9 I bought from them came triple-boxed and the outer box was so large I had to unpack it outside on the patio!

The last GT-2000 they had in a few months back was up for the equivalent of around £1300 IIRC.

Thank you for that and will do. That seems like a remarkable price.

Bear in mind they will be 100v PSU though. This has stopped me from spending a fortune on HiFiDo thank goodness!

Yes, I had a step-down with my Pioneer, and it was no problem, so I am ok with that. HiFiDo do not seem to have as much stock as they used too, I get the feeling that it is getting more difficult to find quality vintage gear.

I bought quite a few things from Hifido when I lived over there and can attest to their packaging being incredible. It's a national obsession in fact! I ran lots of Japanese 100V kit (and still do) using step down transformers from Airlink. Highly recommended.

They're great people to deal with. When I lived in Tokyo I bought my modest system from them and they made it a pleasure - despite my terrible Japanese!

I kinda miss Japanese couriers who treat parcels carefully and even put blankets down when they wheel your purchase into the apartment.

I kinda miss the Sansui amp I bought too.

Ah well.

Whereabouts were you? We were in Sendagaya - more by luck than design but I absolutely loved it there.
