I've just heard Embrace's world cup offering and wish I hadn't.
No catchy hook line to sing from the terrace, no hummable refrain.
Embrace have excelled themselves in their output of garbage.
I quite like embrace but i have to say having only heard the track once it is a little lame and i thought they could have done something better, even Ashes has much more passion about it.
World Cup Willie [1966] not strictly speaking an England song, more a World Cup anthem but at least it had a bit of life to it and fans did make a half hearted attempt singing it at some games but they never really got past the opening line or two though. I see the mighty Showaddywaddy have re-released the magical "Hey Rock N Roll" as "Hey Eng - er - land" and it has a bit more kick than the Embrace effort. The cynic in me still thinks "I Predict A Riot" will be the terrace chant at some games.
