Why do people butcher amps...

It happens that to me and my needs in peculiar setup the old Naim sounds better. I'm talking budget Naim. Having lost hope on selling old Nait 5 for any sane money or money worth the bother I "butchered " it with components Naim using in higher series. I replaced all Elna electrolytic coupling caps ( over 20) with NoS NEC tants and put bakelite ROE caps in feedback positions . I increased filter cap in preamps PSU from 4.7k to 10k uF ( that's what caps do ,don't they ? ) I kept Samwha meaning I sourced equivalent NOS Samha SD series because I didn't see the reason to upgrade since they are good enough. I think the amp sounds quite a bit better or more to my liking now. Still would prefer 3R to match the rest of gear . I used preamp section of Supermait
( power section is busted ) and to me its pretty abysmal. Good enough for Taylor Swift crowd to be sure. I think I will "butcher " it too
