But as I've long said, amongst others here - lots of power/heat for just long enough, usu does far less damage than say, an underpowered iron held in contact forever in vain.

Which plugs / socks (don't know the correct term in English - the sleeves) did you use?
I have 80 and 100W soldering irons which do the job no problem.
