what happens to all the defunct Dab car radios next year ?

Just wondering what happens about all the defunct dab radios next year when its phased out . do cars have radios these days , or maybe they are FM as well

My car does not have a DAB radio - by the time I get one DAB will be outdated.

I think mine has DAB+ because it gets LBC but a drive in the country the other day, could get b all.

Some stations just drifted in then out again.

That sounds pretty similar to my experience with a DAB adaptor driving between London and West Dorset. DAB was a poor implementation of early digital technology and never fully carried out. DAB+ may be better but I wouldn`t bet on it.

A big contrast with the well engineered and long lasting BBC FM network.

My car is 10 years old, and receives existing DAB+ stations. So I don't think a huge number of people will have an issue.

Do you mean dab+ is a much lower bit rate?

Got Dab in my 2019 Tiguan but as I stay in rural galloway I only get Radio 1/2/3/4/5, no other dab broadcasts.

Yes DAB+ is extremely low bitrate. Less than 100kbps, the codec is called AAC plus or something like that

Not just looking good, but a serious audiophile, as indicated by the dangling football boots, which I have found really sort out imaging in the 1850 to 3250 Hz range.

Apart from Radio 3 & 4, I find most radio annoying on journeys. I use Spotify for 90% of my listening on the road (via Apple CarPlay).

This is all a change from my previous car, which still had a cassette player in it.
