VPN renewal scam....NOT, as it happens!

I had a shock last night when PIA (Private Internet Access) emailed to say my 2-yearly renewal of $83.87 had gone through and that I could enjoy the service for another 2 years. As it happens, having used it when I first got it, I haven't needed it for some time and forgot all about it..until last night. And inevitably, in the small print you are automatically renewed unless you cancel BEFORE the date. unlike insurers, they are not obliged to tell you before-hand, it seems.

Anyhow, I cancelled (from 2023 lol) straight away, but on the off-chance I contacted their chat service. To my amazement they said they were sorry to lose me, and that the renewal was being refunded in full. Accordingly, a quick check of Paypal confirms the fact.

So that's nice.

On the other hand auto renewal could be considered underhand.
