Vintage Ariston speakers with Decca ribbon tweeters

Interesting. Pity we couldn't see the actual drivers. I like what seems to be Bulgin socket to banana plug adapters.

Certainly worth a punt at that Buy it Now price, but I'd like to hear them first.

The 2 pin version of the Bulgin mains connector was often used as a speaker connection in the 40s / early 50s. My Williamson is so fitted.

A bit dodgy if you also have a 2 pin mains lead.

Always had a soft spot for Ariston - they were based near the town I grew up in, and they were one of the main exhibitors at the very first show I ever attended (in Kilmarnock, around 1980). I once owned a much later pair of Ariston speakers, but these are a new one on me.

It's unfortunate that the original bass units died. The SB units are high quality, but you have to wonder if they are a good idea here - apart from the alignment issue, dropping a modern driver in without reworking the crossover seems a bit optimistic.
