If you can get away with one pair of balanced inputs & one pair of balanced outputs, the you should find that a 2nd hand EAR 864 Pre amp should be within your budget.

Im using one of these(newer ones have balanced option) with Les's Voyagers and custom Tannoy 15" HPD's.

Do these Melody preamps have remote control?
Also - do you know what the output impedence on the balanced outs is?

Mine doesnt have remote, BUT I believe the newer ones may have.

Apologies, I have no idea what the impedence values are/would be.

That's a good suggestion, Dean. I heard an 864 in a system a few years ago. I can't recall the whole, but I wasn't smitten. I know a pair of Dalis were involved. May not have been anything due to the preamp though. Certainly worth considering.

Yeah - pity as most of the rest of the Manley stuff does that borderline pretty yet functional thing, like Joe's Stingray.

I've never seen any come up second hand in the UK either.
