uploading photos

Hi mods,

How about pinning a foolproof method of uploading photos. Like many other forums, good-hearted souls offer advice on uploading photos. Sadly, too many begin with the assumption that the poster knows what they (and the adviser )know what they are both talking about.
Could we have a step-by-step , fool-proof method for uploading photos. Too often, the helper assumes that the inquirer knows and understands what they are talking about. If we knew that, then we would'n't be feckin' asking for help .Or... we could join the rest of the 21st. century.

Thanks

Before we do, question; do you see the Image icon, in the row of icons above the text box for typing a reply?

Also, what device are you using? PC, Mac, or some kind of mobile gadget?

On my PC, I can run the mouse over them, and their purpose appears in a pop-up when I hover over each. Let us know if you can do this too. From L to R, there 13 text formatting, smilies, then Images.

  1. you can't actually upload photos to PFM.
  2. You can only link to photos on a third party online site.
  3. you need to find a third party site to either host your photos e.g Flickr. OR use a website that has the facility for uploading and providing a link.

  1. go here on the machine (pc/phone) that your photos are on, using your browser of choice https://postimages.org/
  2. locate the "choose image" button

  3. click on the image you want to upload, and it will appear - here is one I've chosen
    Screenshot-20230312-172338-Chrome.jpg
  4. now copy the link to the image by clicking the button I circled in red
    Screenshot-20230312-173907-Gallery.jpg
  5. now go back to PFM window and find the post image button (it is the one that looks like an envelope with a stamp on) click the button
    Screenshot-20230312-174745-Gallery.jpg
  6. a window will open
    Screenshot-20230312-175004-Chrome.jpg
  7. put your cursor in the "image url" box, and paste the link you copied from the post images site. How you normally paste will depend on the device you are using.
  8. click "insert" and your image will appear

use post images as per my example. Imgur is hopeless IMO

This thread is exactly what I have been hoping for to help me post photos. Could it be pinned to be easily referred to when needed? My thanks to Locheeboy and particularly to Gintonic for a helpful step by step guide.

This is best method I found too, nice one GT, good instructions.

GT’s post should be pinned/stickied as per @Locheeboy

I'm just trying to add images from my Flickr account, but just get a pop-up on PFM when I submit the post saying:

The following error occurred:
Your content can not be submitted. This is likely because your content is spam-like or contains inappropriate elements. Please change your content or try again later. If you still have problems, please contact an administrator.

The preview looks fine.

from the main Flickr website, i just normally paste the "bbcode" directly into my post on here - no need for the image button

I've tried the postimg site and keep getting the same error, 'Your content can not be submitted. This is likely because your content is spam-like or contains inappropriate elements'
