Someone in the shadow cabinet had to be corrected by an interviewer as to where Putins war is.
It's not Croatia. It is Ukraine.

Sometimes I think at least stuff like this shines a light on things but then I remember it never makes any difference anyway.

Apart from that slip up I thought his speech was fabulously written, and left no doubt that they weren’t ****ing around.

I do still think that there were a couple of sentences in there to try to get Putin ousted from the inside… “We will seize your yachts and assets” which makes the OGs tremble and then goes onto to say that they think it’s “Singly Putin” that’s the problem here.

But the crucial bit of that, that Putin thinks that Ukrainians and Russians are the same, that the Russian soldiers would be greeted as liberators (such arrogance), well that's not exactly going to plan, is it? I just hope Putin can be brought down from within, when it becomes more and more obvious to the Russians that this is a completely pointless act of barbarism by an evil tyrant who would bring the country he says he loves to its knees..

Certainly biased to the Russian perspective, a brief history, glaringly omitting the Holomodor, onto ww2, Ukrainian nationalists then the events of 2013/14..

I have also linked to something similar. We need to see stuff that isn’t just an echo chamber of our own politics/media. I’ve just read the Fiona Hill interview and it’s striking that she underplays the Russian possible perspective on events to keep a consistent argument of America is always right basically.
As an aside, it’s such a shame Robert Fisk missed this; he would have been in Kiev complete with Zimmer frame:)
