Tuesday: New M. Ward

Erik,

First listen as we speak. It's very fine.

Matthew

BTW Do you like Vic Chesnutt? I think you might well like him and M Ward's (M's?) voice rather reminds me of him. He's a bit patchy but at his best he is excellent.

Matthew,

I will definitely buy the damn fine M. Ward album this weekend, then. Without sampling.

RE: Vic Chesnutt, I know the name and that he has a strong following 'round here. It may be time to investigate. Is there an album you'd recommend for beginners?

I saw Calexico/Lambchop/Vic Chesnutt in London circa 1999, superb gig. That would be "The Salesman And Bernadette" era which was rather good. For some reason he slipped off my radar and I don't have much else by him.

"Salesman & Bernadette", "About to Choke" and "Little" are the ones i have and would prob ranks them in that order. There are probl reviews on pitchfork and samples out there somewhere.

My fave Vic Chesnutt trivia: He plays the wheelchair bound musician in the film "Sling Blade" (Vic is in a wheelchair himself after, I think, a road accident).
