Nothing is perfect, not at any price. My amplifiers are relatively cheap (very cheap to some), the most expensive one being the Hegel, the cheapest one the Audiolab. In the middle there is a Cyrus and an Arcam.
I like them all, so much so that I could not really decide which one to let go. They all take their turns in two systems. I usually play each one for 3 to weeks and out it goes.
It makes and keeps me appreciating each one for what they are good at and makes me look forward to try another one again. They are of course not genre specific but all have their strengths and weaknesses.
I could just have one better one, selling the above but I know even that would not be perfect of course.
Having a choice and knowing that there is one item that will either fit something very nicely or is just available to swap out for a different taste keeps me interested.
I take the same approach with Headphones and use a number to keep things exciting.
I have been tempted lately to add another amplifier, different topology to expand on the above.
I do this with amplifiers as different speakers would just be impractical space wise.
How do you feel about this? One amplifier or several?
