'The return of the BC1s'

I ( rather stupidly...) sold my Spendor BC1s I in 2008, which I had owned for 32 (!) years, from new.
Now the '1s are back...
OK, not the same pair, but a pair which sound as good, or even better.
My originals were Serial Numbers 6703/4. Circa. 1976
These are 10203/4. Circa 1981.
The originals has the white roll surrounds, which were affected by the 'Summer of 76'. They were inverted, which cured things for a while. Then Spendor replaced the bass/mid. drivers in Sep. of '77. No problems after that.
Then in 2008, I was in 'a bad place' and sold them.
Bought a pair of Harbeth HL Monitors, but always wanted BC1s back again.
Then these turned up, for £275, with one non-working bass/mid. driver.
(Even the original Spendor stands were included)
It was a fractured braid to the voice coil, which I managed to repair.
They were checked over by a friend, who is a amplifier and loudspeaker designer.
All electrical tests on the drivers were OK, as were the crossovers.
I have just got them back, and wow!
All the BC1 characteristics are there. Seamless mid/top, that midrange we all know and a tighter bass end that my originals.
I liked the film ' The a Return of the Seven.'
Now I like 'The Return of the Ones' even more...

I guess that your "new" pair have the large port with thick foam insert, and the bass units have ceramic magnets.

I have a pair like this, bass is slightly better controlled than the earlier versions. I also have earlier version too.
