…and also using polyester caps. Radfordman, thanks for sharing the pic. As it is a little bit blurred, did they use an autoformer to adjust the mids/treble section like the first series LS3/5a or do I see just coils?

Yea, a multi tap autotransformer is used. I think it can be used to adjust the level of all the units, but usually only the HF1300 tweeter is adjusted.

Thank you very much for posting that.
I have seen / heard several interviews with Derek, and they always contain so much valuable information.
It's a pity more people don't listen to him, it would put an end to so many silly internet arguments.
We are very lucky that he is still actively designing loudspeakers.

A mix of facts and underplayed humour.

He strikes me as very modest.
He helped me out in my early days of repairing LS3/5As
