Does your Puresound A10 have enough grunt to drive the 2020i speakers?

Does your Puresound A10 have enough grunt to drive the 2020i speakers?

Was about to ask Lefty the very same thing. :)

My 2010i's seem to like plenty of oomph up them, although the 2020i's are slightly more efficient admittedly.

A thousand pounds is about $1540, a quick look on eBay and I think you could do the following in that budget:

AR XA turntable
AT 95E cartridge
Dynaco PAS2 preamp
Dynaco Stereo 70 amp
Spendor BC1s

Add digital later as funds allow.

Oooh! Can I join in?

Just got into this hi-fi malarkey after 48 barren years, and my (new to me) system fits the bill!

Marantz 6000 OSE CD player (already owned, but go on FleaBay for not a lot) - £70?
NAD C370/C270 integrated/power combo - £400 ...(The Wam)
Ruark Prologue II's - £375 .................................(AV Forums)
Speaker Cables - £50 ...................................(eBay)
Interconnects - £30 ...................................(eBay)

Total £925

Giving a bit left over to help pay for repairs to the amp! :(

I'm pleased to report that the A10 has no problems with the 2020i's. Sure the combo won't blast out at party levels, but for normal domestic listening the combo is great.

I also tried the A10 with my 2010i's (borrowed from the AV system) and this also worked, although more restraint had to be shown with the volume due to their lower sensitivity.

As an aside, the little 2010i's sounded jaw droppingly good when used with a Krell FPB300. I honestly could not believe the sound they were producing. Make no mistake, those little Q's can mix it with anything you care to pair them with! If anything, I would say the 2010i's have more 'magic' than their bigger brothers. I eagerly await the Concept 20s which are supposed to something rather special :)

You are more than welcome to join in :). That seems like a pretty good way of spending a grand on a hifi too.

Sorry to hear about the amp repairs, I have been there too, I blew up my Linn majik when I was 17 and had bent over backwards to pay for it. Linn fixed it for £150 luckily.

...some you win & some.....

...well, at least the system sounded great until it happened. Just a bit unlucky with the timing.

In the hands of local chap Jez Arkless, for him to work his magic!

..and thanks for the welcome

I'm thinking of the following;

Rega 3
Rega planet cd
Rega Brio
AE109 speakers

Perhaps not that adventurous, but for a middle aged lady, hopefully a fairly fuss free, reliable and sensible sounding system?

Looks good - you can't go wrong with Rega :)
