At least by re animating an old post I have some firm ideas on what to spend my Christmas money on. Thanks to nickl for his informative posts, a remastered ''Rainbow'' sounds good.
Live performance & participation is always much better than listening to recordings, so I suggest you get a bottle and hit it with a spoon fairly rapidly and regularly for about 40 minutes while humming anything that comes into your head. That should do it.
The Original CBS Masterwork would still be where I would start with 'in C'
the original Vinyl is good as it was a prestige pressing being a Library of Congress reference piece. I guess the cd will be adequate as its well recorded. Remastering sounds interesting but any of his own recordings will be meticulously done so I wont buy them. Saw him live in Manchester last year - definitely a master musician
I have Persian Whirling and Rainbow and in C on vinyl - they are all superb pressings
