I agree.personally in your situation of having to sell the melco to fund the purchase , i reckon the part ex deal is the best and safest option
Now I feel silly!
I wasn’t looking at both the XLR's! I assumed one was an XLR out digital and didn’t even spot the other one!
Then Yes, no XLR is a deal breaker!
I wonder how the new Teac transport would compare? https://eu.teac-audio.com/en-GB/audio-hifi/audio-players/cd-players/pd-505t-cd-transport/p/252512
Same price as the Audiolab 9000cdt and uses the same drive.
i like the look of this , no pics online of the insides , butt apparently uses seperate transformers . phil. Then there's the £1k TEAC linked to in the Schiit transport thread:
You can store the Teac anywhere from minus 20 to plus 55 centigrade according to the specs. That’s impressive.
Nice to know living in Arctic and Africa.
I ended up getting one, very well put together, functionally good and sonically very good, especially as a disk player. If you want SACD as well there’s always this from Technics:

I must admit this player interests me in particular because not only does it play CD and SACD but it includes a streamer too.
At £2,899 though, it’s pricey.
yes audio affair have a physical shop and so do peter tysonFurther research and I cannot see that there is a dealer with a shop where I can go and look at this unit. Maybe there is? Assuming I would have to buy online, I would need to be prepared to take advantage of my right to cancel (under regulation 29 of the The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013) to test the unit out in comparison with what I have but it would be better to have a loan unit from a dealer.
