Speaker choice for vintage Luxman

Just bought a Luxman 1050 receiver and wondering if anyone has suggestions for a suitable speaker to use?
Also, as I wish to use some existing speaker cable that has banana terminations, is there a simple converter to use with spade terminals?

I use wharfedale diamond 8.2 with my vintage Sony receiver , sounds fine for its age via the wharfes

IIRC the Luxmans of this era were designed for 8 ohm loads. The current crop of 4R speakers consequently don't sound good.

why not cut them off & add spades?

alternatively make up banana female sockets wired to spade connectors

Sorry, I should have qualified that statement by saying i'd seen some converters sold by Atlas and just wondered if anyone had an opinion on the merits of using them..or, as you say, just chop the bananas off but it is Auditorium 23 cab;e and i'm a bit loathed to do that.
As to speaker size, not fussed....but as i have no brought a bloody great big box into the house, something smallish would probably calm the wife down!
