I'm feeling fairly smug about my battery powered Vestax Handytrax now.
Does anyone have a recommendation for proper audiophile quality batteries?
Ideally they should be out of production since the mid sixties, eye waveringly expensive and only available from Ukrainian eBay sellers. If they occasionally explode so much the better.

Erm, don’t tell E.ON and perhaps I’m imagining it, but my Walkman Pro seems to prefer Eneloop Pros to its original PS.

I seem to recall someone (maybe @Tony L ?) recommending they always be run off of batteries.
I kind of regret lending mine to a distant acquaintance over a decade ago...
One day about 10 years ago I found myself in my father's two car garage...
...I spied a new 12v car battery.
I asked my father about it - apparently it was for his electric golf trolley - but his game had gone to pot.
Can I have it?
My wife was unimpressed when I moved it into the lounge to power my Beresford DAC.
But fair play it sounded bloody good.

Of course I went down this road too - but the wife with all the blue LEDs threw a major hissy fit...
...apparently the lounge was now resembling a garage / science lab.
I shifted all the Beresford gear into an upstairs bedroom. Mind you it all still sounds bloody good in my second system (despite what you might read on ASR).
