Not a biggy, suitable Sony remotes are pretty easy to pick up on ebay.

Difficult to see what state it's in cosmetically but is that a good price for a 555esd? Quite fancy a Sony after your rebuilds but maybe just wait until you've done one as still trying to work out the hierarchy.

The 555esd is my personal favourite. The 557esd and X7esd are equally brilliant but have a different sonic character.

Apart from servicing the mech and fitting new belts they're pretty bullet proof. Sony used really high quality parts and I've yet to see one that needed recapping.

The laser diodes can go weak but I can fix that.
