Dear awl,

The second half was Beethoven's Symphony Number Four. I think is is just about the best imaginable performance of this often elusive music. When played like this, I think it equals Number Eight in my favourite Beethoven Symphonies. I am an even number Beethoven Symphony enthusiast, except for Number One which is always a joy for me!

I hope you enjoy it. I really love the Warsaw Phil, and they are the antidote to other more famous European Orchestras with their blend of sheer clarity and warmth of tone. They are just so full of natural musicianship.
