Scotland to have a second referendum

Excellent timing from a loyal team player. After such a display of selflessness any Union of Nations will be enviously eyeing up Scotland for membership of course. Especially knowing that it would never kick its allies when they are down. Such an economically self sustaining country would surely give so much more to a Union than it would take, ... wouldn't it?

May received a letter from Sturgeon. Section 30 asking for Scotland to chose its own future with/without the EU and/or UK.

It will no doubt be kicked into the neverending grass by May. Sturgeon will put forward a proposal after this happens in the next week or so. That will be when the real fight begins.

That's how self-determination works. The whole point of places having their own government is that they can reach their own decisions about stuff, representing their people. It's not that surprising is it?

Your logic is wasted with some on here, Cesare.

Before anyone else gets carried away with their petite prejudices can we be clear that Sturgeon's letter was only a formal request which is bound to be rejected. This is no second Scottish referendum presently about to happen.

I don't support the SNP, but I'm full of admiration for the gutsy way Sturgeon handles herself. If the Labour Party had a few like her the whole country wouldn't be in the mess it currently is.

This is going to get very interesting- particularly the Scotland-Gibraltar-Spain axis. Scots and Gibraltarians want to remain in the EU- whether they want that more than remaining in the UK and being forced out of the EU will eventually be put to the test. Will of the people and all that.

May doesn't want to give Scotland an independence referendum, because of the nuclear missile submarines at Faslane.
