samyang/rokinon 8mm fisheye lens ><(((°>

i picked up one of these for roughly $350 CAD and am very impressed with build quality and performance. it's really hard to get into the right mindset when shooting this wide -- it's mainly a surprise when looking trough the finder, as opposed to a planned experience.

anyhow, here is a little test run from yesterday (on my way to purchase a bamboo pole):

mine is this one:

...but i think they make mounts for other manufacturers, like nikon and pentax.

Vuk,

Looks nifty and neato mosquito shots.

Did you buy the other thing you were considering?

Vuk,

No pix yet? At the least, in typical Leica fashion, you're obliged to take pictures of the camera.

I reckon you've gotten to grips with super-wide very quickly; getting really up-close and personal. It seemed to me the Nikon FF equivalent would be: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006MI1UDU/?tag=pinkfishmedia-20 ?

I've got a couple of 180 degree fisheyes, but i've not really got very excited about either of them. One is for mamiya RZ67 (so it's 37mm I believe to cover 6*7) whilst the other is in pentacon format for 6*6, and i've had some success using this on a mamiya 645 with an adapter. I've not taken obviously fisheye shots though, more used it to get close with stuff

I had one for a year or so, but the novelty wore off and I sold it when I bought my Samyang 12mm. I use the Samyang less now I have the amazing Fujinon 16mm f1.4, but I wouldn't part with it, unless the rumoured Fuji 8-16 zoom is a good'un and affordable. Fish eyes, and ultra wides are definitely not the same thing, and occasionally I wish I'd still got mine.

joe.

that would make me no better than the people who post threads about their most recent 1-percenter, mid-life-crisis sports car purchase.

nope. that's just an ultra wide and not as wide.

this is what you (may) need:
