There are a pair of minstrels currently posted on ebay. They look like the SE version but the seller has quoted the serial number (which does not indicate that they are) via mail and also told me that there is nothing on the speaker to say that they are the SE version. Can anyone help?

thank you

I believe that the visible difference is that the SE has an additional strengthening bracket between the base and the back of the loudspeaker. See here http://www.roydaudio.com/models/minstrel-se/

Also later minstrels and SE's had a curve at the bottom of the grill. Also that is walnut not cherry.

Minstrel se's have slightly different base, they have the brace and they also have a slightly different bass driver ( is the centre dust cap black?)..and i have to say...having owned both more than once, I would have the standard one over the SE. The SE is smoother and has a bit more control but that aint what the minstrel is about. the SE sounds thicker and less free than the std one, as if the hand brake is binding.Lando is right, some of the later std ones had curved bottoms to the grilles and all the SE's did. both of the SE's i had, had SE badges on the back.
