RIP Mick Rock

I didn’t especially think he was a great photographer per week - a thing he himself would repeatedly say - but he found his love of music inserting him into scenarios which almost inevitably produced iconic photos.

Though perhaps you could also argue that being in the right place at the right time is just as much a part of the photographers art as the technical or compositional aspects.

Great article and was totally unaware of him, thanks for posting.

Yeah, photography like football, being in the right place at the right time is where the skill lies - by the time you press the shutter/stick the boot out, 95% of the work has been done already.

What a guy. What a life. The 1970's. He was there doing it all with the best of them and he documented it all with a camera.

If you've not seen it before - "Shot - The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock" is well worth a watch on iTunes / amazon.
