RIP Eddie Van Halen

Can’t believe it. What a musician. RIP.

Rick Beato clearly hugely cut up about it. Not my music, but clearly a hugely influential and talented guitarist. RIP.

I’m still a little lost for words, I didn’t see this one coming, I didn’t know he was ill. He was an incredible performer!
Sad times.:(

I saw VH on stage in about 1979, when they were supporting Black Sabbath. Sabbath were pretty lacklustre (Ozzy was only temporarily back with the band, having been fired for unreliability and alcohol abuse, and the cracks were obvious), but VH were electrifyingly exciting. I have their first two albums, and his virtuosity and energy were amazing. Eddie RIP.

I fear Tonyl will have to start a dedicated RIP thread in the future if we continue losing colleagues and artists! Ah well RIP Eddie, without doubt a huge talent.
I remember him popping up on an episode of “Two and a half men”!

Not only a great guitar player but also wonderfully melodic. 65 is too young but I dare say he lived much of those 65 years to the full.
