[FS] RFC Cheviots

My friend is making his bespoke, custom-built pair of RFC Cheviots available for sale. Reference Fidelity Components are run by Paul Coupe, arguably the leading Tannoy restorer in the U.K. Paul is meticulous in his design and build. Each pair is hand built and they can take up to six months to be completed. Fortunately, RFC are based in very close proximity to him.
The build cost is in excess of 7k for a complete pair of speakers. The design gets the very best performance from the Tannoy drive units. This pair are photographed and discussed on the RFC Facebook page, if you can access it.
The speakers consist of hand-crafted bespoke red cherry veneered birch ply cabinets. The drive units are Tannoy HPD 315A 12”, checked by RFC. There are a pair of matching red cherry external crossovers with associated cables. The cabinets sit on bespoke handcrafted feet and they were made two years ago.
The dimensions are 109cms x 47cms x 32cms (hwd.) RFC personally delivered the speakers, so there is no packaging. An old-fashioned demonstration and collection from Gloucestershire appears to be most appropriate, but a meet-up could be arranged.
Looking for £4250. The Cheviots are in mint condition. There is a six-month waiting list and build time for these custom-built speakers.

OK, my friend has asked me to reduce the price to £3750!
This is a saving of £250 on having just the cabinets made, plus a saving on the 6-month waiting list and build time. In addition, the drive units and pair of external crossovers come free!
Form an orderly queue please….

Bump.
I failed to mention that the speakers have magnetic grilles, so they can be removed and put back quickly and easily.

I’ll give a bump with the comment that if I had a spare £3650 I’d be all over these but sadly it seems a new boiler before winter will eat up funds for a good while

Another bump.
Less than half the price you would pay to wait for a new pair to be built.

I think that the owner heard them before asking RFC to build his pair of Cheviots. They were more expensive and much larger, so I don’t think that they were suitable for his room.

There is a model from RFC between Canterbury and Cheviots, called the Rutland, I have them. I can highly recommend !

I was planning to replace my Lancaster corner cabinets with Rutlands, but these Cheviots would be a significant saving. Have you compared the two, @adamski505 ?

Price now adjusted to £3500 at the owner’s request. I think that he has realised that he was giving them away before.

Deposit paid. Remainder of payment to be paid and speakers to be collected next month. Can’t help but think that PFM mebers have missed a trick here.
