Rega Planar 2

Did the original planar 2 with the wooden plinth come with a felt or rubber mat? as always any help greatly appreciated

My first bit of real HiFi, bought in the late eighties I believe . it came with a felt mat and an Acos arm.

Mine had a felt mat.

The original had the rubber mat as supplied on the LP12 of the day. The thick felt mat came later.

Mine also came with a felt mat (and was an early one) - I purchased a Planar 2 before upgrading to a Linn Axis & then an LP12. I fondly remember the Planar as a great bit of kit

The rubber mat as fitted to the early Planar 2 was a reject from Linn. Worked very well though and I preferred it to the later felt. I still have it somewhere.

Many thanks to all, I picked an old planar 2 up locally and it had both rubber and a thin felt mat. I much prefer the sound using the rubber mat

The rubber mat wasn't supplied for long, it was soon replaced by the felt but, like you, I preferred the rubber.

When I bought my Planar 3 the 2's at the dealer had a thinner felt mat than the 3 (which was 3-4mm)
