recommendations for new tweeters

Hi

I have recently bought some cheap B&W 603 S2 speakers.

As the tweeters have been poked by inquisitive little fingers, and I am not that enamoured with the treble anyway, I am looking to replace them with a pair of higher quality items.

Anyone have any recommendations? Say a max of 60USD per tweeter....

I recently had to replace the tweeters in my Heco speakers after one died, and I found that getting an aftermarket one to fit in place of the original was a nightmare.

Why not try contacting B & W so see if the tweeter from the S3 would fit, as it has allegedly been improved over the S2?

Failing that, try one of the usual suspects like Wilmslow or Falcon from the links section, who may be able to recommend a direct replacement.

Unless the replacement tweeter has virtually identical electrical T/S parameters to the original, the transfer function of the high pass filter of the crossover network will change - often dramatically altering the voicing of the loudspeaker system. Make sure that the S3 and S2 are electrically identical before investing your hard-earned dosh.
