According to Vince Jennings, only 6 pairs of STL4 were ever built.

The cheap replacement PA drivers rule these out for me I’m afraid. I’m sure an alternative to the original Dalesford bass units wouldn’t have been that difficult to find.
The fitted bass drivers have magnet assemblies a midrange driver would be embarrassed to have! They look very much like these.

Apparently, Dalesford produced two 8" Bextrene models that were not too far from a couple of the KEF B200 variants on Q and other specifications.

Well, on the one hand, it's superb to see that at least one pair of these semi-mythical beasts do exist!

On the other, it's a shame these have been mucked about with.

Agreed.

If it makes you feel any better, there is a pair of large Apogee full-range ribbon loudspeakers languishing in the basement of the local dealership, having been slashed to death by a customers rather high-strung wife (presumably, now ex, or widow).

Looking on the bright side, as it is painfully obvious that wifey was pretty adept using the Henckels, one could say that hubby got off lucky.

Still makes my skin crawl whenever I see these, though.
