raising platter height of Michell Tecnodec

Is there a way of doing this either with a replacement platter or add-on mat and spindle? I have a new tonearm armboard I'd like to use but it raises the tonearm too high for the current platter height. I've checked with Michell and Orbe/Gyro platters can't be fitted to the Tecnodec.

How far would you like to raise the Platter?

1/2 to 3/4 inch should do it.

brab, what's the advantage of the new armboard? Are you using a different tonearm too?

Sounds likely a sub-optimal setup to raise the platter (and presumably the motor/pulley)?

The armboard (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5338728743&icep_item=231477467833) allows my Hadcock arm to slide easily for cartridge alignment a la SME. Without it alignment has to be done at the headshell which is next to impossible. If there's a way of putting something on top of the existing Tecnodec platter then I don't have to mess with the motor and pulley height.

Hmm, not sure that all the extra mass would be a good idea.

Any way the armboard could be dropped lower?

Actually, looking at that ebay link I don't see why it's raised higher than a simple, fixed, armboard.

Forgive me asking - you've not mounted it upside down have you?

Why not just get the correct armboard from Michell for the arm you actually want to use.

The SME to something else adapter was always going to add some unwanted height unless you bolt it to the bottom of the existing armboard
