Quick cap question

Both Vishay and Nichicon make good axial capacitors. Often better than the originals that were installed at the factory.

The 10uF/63v axial is the single most troublesome cap in the entire amp. No real need to change the others but if you've got the boards out then choose the 47uF from the same range - it doesn't have to be bipolar. If it's a bolt-down it's worth changing the zeners too as they're probably very noisy.

Hi Mark,

It did have a full Naim service in 2006. Would you still recommend changing the diodes?

Hi Alan,

I believe (from what I've read) that the ESR value is quite important on this cap. So low is not good. Not sure about putting radials in, don't want it to look bodged.

Ah yes sorry its after the reg, well why no just go with your original Vishay link the 10uf x 63v has 11 ohms ESR
