nord products are very affordable and ice power stuff in loads of class D amps at the moment. gaining a lot of favour with many for good reason. they are very engaging amps and will surprise you

Another thought, I had some firebottle monos made at 1100 pounds , very powerful amps with a grippy neutral sound .hybrid valve . They are in the wigwam and aos classifieds for half what I paid

An update.
I have had a couple of very nice amps on demo for a few weeks.
The EWA Q20 that Colin (CJ14 on PFM) makes, and a March Audio P122 that Keith of Purite Audio very kindly lent me.
Both are wonderful, and the service, kindness and trust I have been given by Alan Brown and Keith has been amazing, so a very big Thank You to them both.
I have to say it was very close, as both gave me a huge amount of pleasure in different ways, and it ended up with me asking my family to add their votes as I couldn't decide.
In the end, the tiny Q20 is the one that I'm keeping. My wife likes it because it is so small, my daughter has ears (yes, she can hear a difference between certain types of cable) and actually stayed up way past her bedtime choosing music, which was a first.
