Philip Glass on R3

I shall try and listen to pieces I`ve not heard before but...

That's all I ask, if you don't like, you don't like, nothing wrong with that.

I'm pretty sure I've suggested the string quartets for anyone wishing to discover Glass.

Hopefully they'll play one.

Thanks, something to look forward to. They are short chats and excerpts it seems.

String quartet No 1 on Monday.

Einstein On the Beach on Tuesday - 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,,,,

At least it will be one of those few Composers Of The Week that don't end on Friday with some funereal sentences from Donald Macleod.

The series is moving forward through Glass' career, but each day they play something quite recent by him, as well as pieces from the point in time under discussion. Maybe the producer is trying to underline how lame the later work is.

The new additions to my Glass collection have arrived.

Einstein on the Beach.

Complete string quartets by the Smith quartet.

Glassworks.

Gosh! I'd forgotten how strange EotB was!

Love the Smiths way with the quartets, as good as the Kronos? I think they might just be...

And Glassworks is stunning!

Ta once again,

Baz!

Well, I listened to most of it and liked some of the stuff I didn`t know more than I expected but I`m not inclined to buy any more pieces than I already have - with the possible exception of Songs from Liquid Days. The square thing for two flutes was beyond dire. Not time wasted though.
