Trying to source speakers for a vintage sg5000 panasonic without success does anyone know of any other speakers that would be compatible tia

Absolutely any small bookshelf speaker from Richersounds.

Two caveats to the above reply:

- choose sensitive speakers as your music centre won't have a lot of power

- you might need to get din to banana speaker cables made up if the speaker connections on your music centre are din plugs.
