Ortofon sapphire cantilever cantilever with fine line tip ?

Does anyone know if Ortofon ever made a cartridge with a sapphire cantilever and a fine line tip ?

Hi,

Ortofon have made a cartridge with a sapphire cantilever with a Ortofon Replicant 100 tip( MC 5000) & a sapphire cantilever with a Shibata tip (Quintet Black S).

The MC 5000 had sapphire cantilever and Replicant 100 stylus.

The Kontrapunkt b had ruby cantilever (practically same as sapphire) and Fritz Gyger 80 stylus and the current Cadenza Blue has ruby with FG70.

And then you have the diamond cantilevers like MC Diamond and MC Verismo (plus MC Anna Diamond and MC Century).

Yes the Quintet Black started out with boron cantilever but I think there was a shortage so Ortofon opted only to use boron in the more expensive models - though it has come back with the upgraded 2M Black LVB250.

As said ruby shares the same traits as sapphire.

A friend has recently had his Contrapunkt B back from ESCo. They reaffixed his stylus, which (they said) was in exc. condition, to a new ruby (or maybe sapphire?) cantilever. Just shy of £300, I understand. seemed a bit odd to me, but there y'go !
