I feel much better now, I really do...
On a whim I fired up my Onix OA21 through my mk 1 SBLs using an Oppo Blu blu ray to play a cd last night.
The OA21 had been fully refurbished at Onix so there were no issues with old caps etc.
It was really bright sounding compared to my Audiolab 8000 and very powerful. Did'nt need to turn the volume more than a little to achieve ear splitting volume.
I played a cd of Billy Cobham's Spectrum and a Yes cd, Keys to Ascension disc 1 which I know to have some deep bass on the first track.
I really need to sort a vinyl imput to hear the Onix at it's best but that will take some serious box shifting to get a deck capable of taking an MC cart near enough. Onix amp is MC only.
The SBLs had the bass but it wasn't over emphasised. Is positioning critical for such speakers? Do they have a downward firing bass port?
