I'm dipping my toe into uPnP streaming using an android phone and bubblePnP until such time hegel introduce qobuz connect.

The feed to the router / amp stops when I'm out of range of the wifi, such as going to the kitchen or loo with phone in pocket. Is this the reality of upnp?...or is there a setting to prevents drop out when out of range.

Thanks

No, this is because Bubble UPnP is using WiFi to send the stream from your phone. When the signal breaks the stream stops.

Thanks Guinnless
That's interesting. I thought the wifi was taking remote control duty only and not the streaming. I did precede my title with numpty...and so it has come to pass. D'oh.

You may be getting mixed up with Bubble UPnP Server/client which will do as you were expecting. Assuming you have a NAS you may be able to run Bubble Server on it. Your phone client is then just a control point.
