no sound on my laptop

Hi, the sound has gone from my laptop, i have the sound logo, it says its on at 70%, but when i click the icon, it does nothing,
can't turn it off, laymans terms please, thanks andy

Right click the speaker and run the trouble shooter.

Open device manager expand the sound group and delete all the drivers tick the box to remove the drivers from the system then click on action tab and scan for hardware changers.

This, is the first thing I'd do also. If that doesn't work (because it's almost certainly going to load the same drivers as it was already using, and they may be the problem), then go to the laptop manufacturer support website and find your laptop (usually the website will want to scan your laptop to identify it) and then download the latest sound drivers and install them.

It could also be muted in a program somewhere.
