Ingenuity? Really? Anyone replying to any unsolicited e-mail is simply greedy, hoping to make something for nothing. There's nothing ingenious about preying on the greedy. Absolutely no sympathy whatsoever with any 'victims'.

Even the dating ones? Those victims are not greedy, just lonely.

A fool and their money may be easily parted but if their are no laws, basically ethical ways, of doing this then we would live in a failed state, which Nigeria is quite close to being. I would rather Nigeria had European laws and corruption standards rather than the other way round. Not that that a lot of business practice's in Europe couldn't do with a bit more in the way of ethical standards.

I must admit to getting a bit annoyed about how naive or greedy many of the "victims" are.
Maybe if more people had their heads screwed on, the scammers would realise it wasnt worth doing.

Its like these people have with safety barriers on things that sound too good to be true. Have they never had a reality check in life?

I do have some sympathy with the desperately lonely but why would they send money without ever meeting someone in person or knowing enough about them.

I do think every connection should be properly registered and internet fraud should be treated as far more serious crime. Shared computers in Nigeria should be a bit of a no no. Internet protection needs tightening up which is clearly easier said than done.

Loneliness is a curse but shouldn't short circuit a persons ability to take on a simple message such as never reply to an unexpected communication. Any genuine contact will find an alternative way to get in touch or properly identify themselves.

I'm afraid there are some people, my late brother in law was one, who feel that the road to riches can be a matter of luck. He and others like him are very susceptible to 'fortunes at the click of a mouse' type scams. They previously fell over the same thing by phone or mail. It's only the technology that's changed not the scammer or punter.

So true, I have been accused by others on occasion of being "lucky". Maybe I have been but I certainly subscribe to the Sam Goldwyn quote that "the harder I work, the luckier I get!"

It's not always spam you know.

The other day I laughing criticised to my girlfriend an email I had in my junk folder claiming to give me access to 'all the hot local pussy'.

Well that night around 2am we are laying in bed when we hear the most noisy wailing and yowing that just went on and on. Some cat was in season real bad.

"That's your hot local pussy!" my GF said as she rolled over trying to get back to sleep.

Well I never!

I have recently received 4 scam mails with iffy attachments, I have safely put them in a folder.

How can I recycle them and forward them to an on-line scammer, or Mick?

I jest Mick, just this once though. ;)

My last scam email was from Hamidul Haque requesting help with a million dollar transaction in Bangladesh.
You won't believe how many UPS packages I've missed in my 'neighborhood'.

I had an email today from the inland revenue warning me I had undeclared income and to open the attachment to update my tax return, bit of a giveaway that it was addressed to a product workgroup at a company where I work part of the time.
