New lens for my Nikon D50

Hi all

The original lens for the D50 (18-55mm) has just died on me. I'd like to replace it with something not to expensive.

Any suggestions & recommendations for lens's and suppliers?

If you'd like to get a zoom on a budget the 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 DX Nikkor is the Nikon glass to get.

Depending on what you think expensive is, i'd consider the Sigma 18-50 F2.8. Very sharp, sensible build. Lovely results. 1.5 stops faster than the 18-70 suggested above which might be important depending on what you expect from a lens.

Joe/Stephen - I bought one of those on the Tottenham Court Road in London with the S5 - its what I took my so called Eggleston photo with

They've recently updated it with an HSM motor too and in the UK you can get it for less than £300.
