Naim Allae Tweeters?

A friend of mine has blown the tweeters in a pair of Allaes...we are looking for replacements but can find no info on the web as to what they are. Does anyone now or if there are any issues with DIY replacement - I have read that there is some sort of suspension mount but no details of it.

Many thanks in advance for any info.

Neil

Hi Neil,

I can’t imagine it would be anything other than the scanspeak tweeter used in SBLs IBLs and SL2s. I believe Naim still holds stocks.
The suspension is a thin metal plate with slots cut to give felixibilty...same as IBL. Tweeter is attached on the back of the plate with screws

Naim modify them by running a bead of hot melt glue around the edge of the cardboard back plate to better secure it and adding a brass and rubber damper.

If you buy the OEM item rather than from Naim (which you will since its a lot cheaper) you will need to salvage the dampers from the outgoing pair.

Not sure where to direct you in the US but both Wilmslow and Falcon stock them in the UK.

These are the ones without ferrofluid. The other variants all have ferrofluid.

Thanks for the info guys, most helpful. And they are readily available over here too, Madisound (being the US equivalent of Wilmslow) have them at about $75 each

When you come to reattach the tweeter to the cabinet the torque setting is 0.8nM not 3.6nM as incorrectly quoted in some Internet posts. You will need a specialist torque wrench for a setting that low.

If the Allae uses exactly the same tweeter as the Credo, then you need the one WITH ferrofluid. The non-ferrofluid versions sounded noticeably dull on my old Credos.
