Naim 160 phono boards

The amp boards in the bolt up 160 are long and thin, same as the bolt-up NAP250, and the NAP120 tiny shoebox amp. The sleeved 160s, 250 etc used a completely different design that won't fit.

I am probably wrong but I think that the 250 boards need to be run in conjunction with regulation boards......someone who actually knows what they are talking about is bound to chip in on this.

The 250 boards can be used without the regulator boards but there's no point because the amplifier boards are the same! It's the power supply that's the difference between the amplifiers.

If you want a 250 sell the 160 and buy a 250 (you may regret it, some prefer the unregulated amps to the 250).

I’ve sold both my 250s in preference to my 160s.
I have BD and CB 160 and couldn’t tell you why I prefer them to my 250s. I even had one 250
Serviced by Naim to see if it would change my choice. It didn’t.

Big fan of the 250 here but the 160 sounds "sweeter" to me.
Using my 160BD and didn’t let my 250.2 go.................yet.

The extruded case 160 pcbs are the same as the 250 pcbs of a similar build date. Where the differences lie is the power transistors, the 160 has BDY56/naim 002 transistors and the 250 has BDY58/naim 001 transistors. The latter have a higher power rating and don't sound as good with a 160 power supply as the 002.
