Monoblocks or stereo poweramps for B&W 802 Diamond

Hello DV,

The is a 558 on sale currently. It seems to be the 5 channel version. Would appreciate your views on this. I read that they can be configured to run in stereo mode as well. Is this true.

The 558 can be configured as 5 channels into 8 Ohms or 2 bridged pairs to give a stereo of 500wpc and a spare 200w mono.........

Not as powerful as a pair of 559s but worth a punt as your speakers are a bit easier to drive than mine.

You could get a pair of hypex ncores. Build a pair for around a 1000 should easily match what has been mentioned. I have heard them behind 802d's - best Ive heard them bettered the classe monoblocks they replaced.

The cheapest OEM pair of the ncores sell for 5k.

Well spotted, i didn't even look at the photos.

They might have a better chance of selling them, if they listed them correctly. Those EAR 549s would make a nice system for someone. Get them off to Tim de Paravicini at EAR and they could be serviced as new.
