Modular HiFi?

I always liked the internal Layout of the 70's Luxman C-5000A preamp, all sectional boards plugged into a main board, PC style. And my JVC M-L10 power amp has a separate PSU which just slides out, and is plugged in with a PC style connector.

And, as Tin says, Linn's Selekt DSM is modular with different DACs and a multi channel option

They're all proprietary formats though.
