Members' System Information

My last upgrade was over 8 years ago! where does the time go?

Record Player - Spiral Groove SG2/Centroid arm/DV XV1-s cart/ Brinkmann Fein phono stage
Computer Audio - Mac Mini/Amarra/Weiss DAC202
Amps - 2 off Meridian 559
Speakers - Shahinian Obelisk 2
Control Unit - cheapo 4 way switch
Cables - cheapo out of my junk box that I collected over the years oh and a nice one from flashback

The performance of vinyl playback is unbelievably good. Unless you have heard a top end record player you have to hear one to understand what can be achieved.

Cheers,

DV
I’ve not heard of your deck, I’ll have to look that up, but having spent a few years with an almost Klimax LP12, and having experience of an SME 20/3 with the obligatory series V arm, I know what you mean... vinyl shouldn’t sound so good, but it does. Provided you have good clean pressings, it can be astonishing.

And as far as not changing your setup for 8 years, that’s contentment, a great thing... I changed nothing for about 8 years (with the exception of a cost neutral upgrade of a Linn KDS)... I sold the lot almost two years back to release some much needed cash, but now I’m craving another top end deck!

Okay, this post is so interesting so here are my spare items, none is for sale for the moment :

Kenwood KT 8500 tuner, Creek T40 tuner
IMF Super Compact mk 1 with original Kef woofers but with polypropylene Peerless mid and Morel MDT 30 tweeters (they really sound great for their age !)

One day, I will put together a third system.............when my oldest daughter will leave home !

Current system:

Raspberry Pi as NAS running LMS
Raspberry Pi with HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro running PiCorePlayer controlled by iPeng
Chord Hugo
Naim 102, modified and powered from 2x Hicap + a Teddycap for digital duties.
2x Monoblocked Naim 180s
Linn Kans early Mk1s
All signal interconnects are from Flashback Sales.

I EQ the Kans in PiCorePlayer and they really made music fun again.
The Kans supplanted some active SBLs but I just enjoy these more.

I should, however, soon have some Ergo IXs - maybe I can lose the EQ.

I just don't use any CD or vinyl any more - they're just gathering dust in the spare room.

For the life of me I don’t understand why anyone would want a bedroom system unless they live in a studio.

Mine was put in place partly because it's quite a big bedroom but mostly because I had the kit spare (it's the active Naim system that used to be the system I had in my study before I switched to the simpler Krell/Wilson Benesch set-up I have in their now).

Music everywhere : I love that ! :D
I’m the same, I’ve a system in a dedicated room but also a proper system in the living/dining room, office, kitchen, bedroom, daughter’s room, garage and a pair of B&O Bluetooth speakers for the bathroom/garden/hot tub (more like lukewarm tub) or travelling.

For the life of me I don’t understand why anyone would want a bedroom system unless they live in a studio.

I don’t see anything odd in that at all. Why not have great sound quality in the bedroom? I’ve also had decent systems in a kitchen (as in full size components not a mini system)

Maybe you don’t spend much time in the bedroom

I occasionally have difficulty sleeping, made bearable by having radio 3 on quietly. Thus relaxed I can then, eventually, nod off.
