Hi. I recently bought a Marantz CD7 cd player and to be fair it seems that it had no fault when I bought it. But it has developed a fault. If I leave the player ON 24/7 there is no problem. If I switch it off for a short while ( 10 or 15 minutes ) no problem. But if i switch it off for a few hours and it goes stone cold there is a problem.....I have a hell of a job to get the player to play. the first time it happened I just couldnt get any sound though the cd was playing. Eventually I thought of switching from FILTER 1 setting to Filter 2 setting and I immediately got sound. Then I put it to filter 3 and there was sound, so i put it back onto Filter 1 (which is where it was at when i first switched on ) and there was sound. This has happened every time I have switched it off for several hours. But,worryingly, sometimes it takes a lot of presses of the the filter button before I manage to get sound. So,I keep it switched on and there is no problem. but I do want to get it put right. May only be a CHIP but I know nothing about electronics.
I contacted marantz asking to have it repaired and they gave me details of 2 service centres, one in Swindon and one in Oldham. Both have said " the player is 7 years old and we wouldnt have the parts ". Also they seem to specialise in £200 players. I emailed Marantz a further twice stating that I want a marantz engineer to service it and sadly I have had no further reply from Marantz.
A good mate suggested that I post my problem on here as he says there are some very competent people on this site that may be able to help me. Or maybe somebody has some knowledge of getting Marantz to do something to help me? Many thanks in anticipation of anyone who can help me at all. Regards, Mark
