I dont bother with them as they only last 5 minutes. I use a small blob of polyurethane sealer as used in the motor trade for sealiing new panels ,trims etc.
Did this about 10 years ago. Clean out the small locating hole in lid and and use a tiny drop of superglue. Just checked and they are coming up for replacement.
I think the life of them is down to how you open the lid , if you lift it evenly from both sides they last much longer, I always lift from one side and they seem to disintergrate. also a bit of polish stops them sticking to the wood.
