Linn Klout vs LK280 + Spark

Hello Bob. My speakers are French 3A speakers reference 2002. They work well with tube amps so over detailed amps don't work correctly with these speakers which are fabulous. They are 4 ways speakers. There's a 10 inches woofer inside the enclosure which works under 80 hz.

From the years of production, I would not be surprised if the LK280/Spark wasn't preferable depending on the balance of your system. If a Klout is 3x the price of another LK280/Spark, I'd go with the LK280/Spark.

i used to run Aktiv Kabers with 3 x lk280's Sparks and xover box.
Kabers just thrived on POWAH!,got rid of most of my LK boxes when i purchased a pair of Totem Forests.
3 amps, 1 xover box, Pekin and an Ikemi.
still have my Lingo and Linto with one Akurate C4200 doing the hard work now.

Why? I could barely hear any difference between Linn 2250D and Behringer A500 in a prolonged fair a/b test and would not have reliably distinguished them blind.

Just possibly the 2250D had a milligram more bass heft, but the A500 had an ounce more midrange clarity. Or maybe not. A difference swamped by any room.

I can recommend spending your money in other ways. At least I bought the Linn amps used, and they almost held their value.

How were you using the A500s in active mode and what speakers were you using?

The gain on the Klout is 2.5 db more than the LK280.

As far as I know all Linn amps have the same gain, 28.5 db when using an unbalanced connection. Even though the LK280 uses a Cannon connector it is not a true balanced connection.
