Interesting new macro 'probe' lens

that's pretty cool, but i'm not convinced a metre of distance now makes it safe to shoot "dangerous animals" (like poisonous snakes) up close.

Venomous snakes. They're not poisonous unless you eat them.

(Man, if I had a nickel every time someone said poisonous instead of venomous I'd be as rich as that Amazon bloke. In fact, I'd be so rich I could buy the entire Amazon rainforest and all of its venomous snakes.)

i know you're playing a vulcan trick on me but i did say poisonous, not venomous, even though i admit i would probably not have paused to consider any difference.
 
That’s a very cool lens.

... which if you don’t have all the other kit in the way of tripods and tracks already, could lead to a very expensive purchase!!

can I suggest you test one with snakes that poison their prey, and perhaps some spiders that inject poison, and maybe a hornets nest and report your findings here.
